An
Invitation to Submit a Script Idea
Dear
Companions,
Guy
Noir is the aging New York gumshoe/shamus/p.i. who relocated
years ago to St. Paul and the 12th floor of the Acme Building
where, in between visits to the Five Spot cocktail lounge
and its bartender/psychologist Jimmy, and phone calls from
his ex-girlfriend Sugar, he waits for the phone to ring
and another client to come forth, one with a big need, not
just some shnook with a missing brooch.
Okay,
you know all that. What you don't know is that Ben Dover,
Minnesota Public Radio's Executive Vice-President for Programming
Quality, has given the Guy Noir writing staff an ultimatum:
better stories, edgier, ramped up drama, media savvy and
in-crowd friendly, with better branding and enhanced comedic
values and more visibility among people 18-35.
The
G.N. writing staff has not a clue what this memo means,
especially the part about "branding" and "visibility," and
so we're asking you, the clueful listener --- begging you
--- to help out by submitting your original one-page outline
of a Guy Noir story. The story MUST include at least three
weather metaphors ---- It was so (cold, hot, beautiful)
that, etc. ---- and five Gorgeous Broad images --- Her jeans
were so tight I could read the date on her underwear, etc.
---- and the outline of a story. And of course it must be
edgy and savvy and ramped-up and all the rest.
Winning
scripts may be incorporated into an upcoming broadcast of
A Prairie Home Companion. Writers of winning scripts will
receive $100 and a copy of Lake Wobegon Summer 1956,
autographed to a person of your choice.
