"Yule Jewel"

Cool Yule -
You'll rule!
You'll rule cool.
Yule rule - cool!
Cool Yule Rule!

Wayne Pauluk, Springfield, MN

Even if all the stars fall from the sky,
May true love last a thousand years.

Lynn Martinson, Minneapolis, MN

Here's to the year 2000. May we have the wisdom to treat it kindly in our persuit of a better life for all the people of this world and beyond.

Jim Tanner, Hastings, Mn

May this holiday bring you
enough good food to eat
warmth of home and heart
peace of soul and mind
and the wisdom
to make these blessings endure
throughout the coming year

ENDINGS AND NEW BEGINNINGS

As we come to the end of the present millennium
may we each examine our life, past and present
to determine our satisfaction and sense of pride,
our sense of accomplishment and mark on the world,
lest the new millennium never arrives.

Nancy Keller, Mpls., MN

Here's a wish for Christmas Day
For all good girls and boys.
Here's a hope that Y2K
Won't spoil your high-tech toys!

Mike Sherer, Minneapolis, MN

"A long and happy life! I wish you what you will and, further, that it turn out to be as good as it appeared in anticipation. Prosper! I wish you that, my friend, not only for prosperity's sake but for friendship."

I'm entering on this behalf of Ovid, who wrote it to the only friend who stuck by him after his exile. It is Tristia I.9. If I can't win because I didn't write--forward the gift to the Elysian Fields where I am sure Ovid is still at play.

Charles Ellis, Andover, Mn

Eat your vegetables, sing in the rain, breath deep, smile, say please and thank you, floss daily, pet an animal, read a good book, wear purple, pay attention, love everyone. May contentment and peace be ours in the New Year.

Pam Nelson, Minneapolis, MN

In this millennium year of 2000 may all your digits increase and may your decimal point move three zeros to the right. Peace and Prosperity!

Mary Jane Sieben

A Toast For New Year's Day

Be of good faith
Be of good cheer
Be a good friend to those far and near

Live all your dreams
Live without fear
Remember the millennium begins next year

L. Jan Cavanaugh, Sioux Falls, SD

Our New Year's
(A Year 2000 Toast in Limerick)

We don't bother grocers or banks,
Forego filling underground tanks;
Believing the century
Sufficient adventure, we
Stop. Stop, reflect, and give thanks.

Paul Kilgore, Duluth, MN

May the millenium find you happy and gay, Undaunted, untouched by that old Y2K. May our table, computers be free of all spam Our vehicles not caught in large traffic jam Stay healthy and cordial, enjoy everyday 'cause we're just a small "twinkle"in the great Milky Way.

Barb O'Neal, Oak Park Heights, Mn

May people wake up and live to the fullest of their potential.

D. Johnson, Minnetonka, MN

Santa don't like cookies,
Not even one small crumb.
Neither do his reindeer;
they'd rather bite my thumb.

Santa don't like cookies,
Won't some pickles work?
Maybe just a little bit-
What if he goes berserk?
by Adrienne Manlove, age 11, Minneapolis

Celia Manlove, Minneapolis, MN

May the Joy of Christmas
Stoke your inner fires warm,
Invite those near to come
And share the love adorn.

For holiday's cheer
Can light this world,
With hope for mankind renewed
In this child just born.

Chad C. Cooper, Apple Valley, MN

As we welcome this new year,
Let us remember to cherish our precious memories of the past, to delight in wonderful visions for our future, and to fully embrace the many gifts of living that we have all been given,
Yesterday,
Today,
and for a millenium to come.

Amanda Stremski, Saint Paul, MN

Minnesota Christmas Eve

Midnight.
Under the Christmas tree,
white star-lights
flicker in a sky of deep pine.
I take her sharp needled fingers
into my own, tenderly, and
dream a whispering
snow-covered forest,
ice-sculpted lake,
sky laced with
stars, and, in the East,
the distant beacon glowing
over Bethlehem.

Kris Keeney, Inver Grove Hghts, MN
