No Snow.
We've never had snow. At least not the kind that happens in Minnesota.
It's dry where we're from. Cold and dry.
No snow.

Now we wish for snow.
Mounds of wet white.
We want to get hit with a snowball.
And-
We will wish later for
NO SNOW!

Melanie J. Craighead, Holland, MN

I think at least one holiday toast for Minnesota should be in Spanish, so here's mine:

Ojalá que estén pobres en mala suerte,
Ricos en bendiciones,
Lentos hacer enemigos,
Rápidos hacer amigos.
Pero ricos o pobres, rápidos o lentos,
Ojalá que conocen nada mas felicidad
Desde este día hacia adelante.

James H. Manahan, Cleveland, MN

Good night,
Sleep tight,
don't let the Millennium Bugs
bite.

Mina Leierwood, MPLS, MN

In the coming era,
Expect blue skies, clear waters and green fields
So bring respect for life.

Expect sunny days and starry nights
So bring strength and creativity.

Expect joy
So bring warm hands and open hearts.

Expect peace on earth
So bring love for all earth's creatures.

Marta Lewis, Eden Prairie, MN

Wishing a bright, happy holiday season, birthday (12/24/28), and anniversary to my husband, Dr. Budd Appleton. Buddy, as you well know you are more a part of our lives today than you were before you passed. All my love forever.

Linda K. Hirte, St. Paul, MN

Resurrection

After fooling ourselves into believing
That 2000 is not just any New Year
But the dawn of a new millenium,
We race to celebrate,
Eager to close the door on our imperfect past,
Anxious to welcome the special beginning
And drink its elixir of hope.

Linda Skarjune, St. Paul, 551MN

To Family
To Friends
To Hopes
To Dreams
To Futures
To Pasts
Two Thousand
Tonight!

Mary Stevens , Minneapolis, MN

My heart feels weak
This may be
For there are millions of reasons
Hear my plea

We think not how we waste
Instead we create in haste
Not allowing one to think
Feel or taste

Savor life
See what it truly means
Enjoy the subtleties of living
Realize forgotten dreams

Tom Williamson, Moorhead, MN

Warm Seasons' Greetings.....
For when you've cried your last tear
And grieved for loved ones gone,
Lift your troubled hearts to God
His love will bring you home.

No burden or worry is too much for God's love and those near you to lend a loving hand.

Hang on......even those with heavy hearts will endure the holiday season and see brighter days ahead.

Lori Manning, Minneapolis, MN

Always keep in mind that money comes and goes
but nothing can replace a child's laughter or a warm hug
and know that as long as music exists
there can never be complete sorrow.

Laurie Murray, South St. Paul, MN

A Holiday Toast to Friends

Here's to friends we once knew,
who, to advance, have, this pop stand, blew.

We miss them, every one,
hope their life's full of fun.

Be thankful for, in life, your place,
hope, for others, they'll be safe.....

with friends and full of cheer,
a hope for our millennium year.

Bob Lockyear, Stillwater, MN

Y2K

Millennial folly,
Electronic fey.
Compatible all,
Or why too gay?

Millennial table,
Now is laid.
Welcome to Abel?
Bestow aye to Cain.

Millennial exam
For all us clay.
Lion and the lamb,
The wise do gain.

Linda Hammer, Minneapolis, MN

I'm indeed dreaming of a green Christmas.
A pine green, lime green, pristine isthmus,
To connect snowland and sunland and truly it must
Carry our hearts, our joys, our love on wind gusts
so far reaching, so as to touch the pine bluffs
high above the stressful whines, huffs
that shroud our holiday.
At Christmas I no more desire a rose than wish a snow
In December's new-fangled Mirth. Though The Bard I'm not,
I'm indeed dreaming of a green Christmas.

Patrick Quint, St. Paul, MN

The End

Now as the Century draws near
doomsayers fill us with fear
They tell us to hoard
and pray to the lord
or else we won't see the new year.

Dean Carlson, Minneapolis, mn

Winter

Winter is always so cold
to live here is really quite bold
to see all that snow
and the ice that won't go
is a wonderous site to behold

elaine h. carlson, minneapolis, mn

Christmas Cheer

Christmas is always so jolly
with its mistletoe, music, and holly
There's a warm, happy feeling
from the floor to ceiling
to ignore is truely a folly

Mary Lou Carlson, White Bear Lake, MN

Ice Fishing with Ian

By stars, their brightness grew
we drew our burden across the lake
with toboggan full, perhaps some
crappies to take.

Warmed with hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps
I think of Christ and Christmas,
the sparkle of the night sky, the meaning of it all,
and what fishes He might make.

George Rosenwald, Welch, MN

May the new socks and slippers fit your feet,
and the underwear not be too tight.
May the necktie be not too gaudy,
and the new robe fit you just right.
May fruitcake and lutefisk
be in short supply,
May your tree keep its needles
' till the 4th of July.

Mary Martin, St. Croix Falls, WI

(This toast has props which should be hidden before)

We hear you've been naughty this year
and we want to give you the scoop....
We're running short of coal this year,
so here's some snowman poop.

(distribute marshmellows)

David Higley, Minneapolis, MN

Plain and simple said:
Celebrate what's right.
Walk together in new light.
A holiday wish from we to you.

Dale Moss, Friendly Fridley, MN
