May these be the worst times of our lives!

Keith Ford, Minneapolis, MN

Now in the North it's the season of the Moon, the pale queen of the dayswallowing night. She marks her land with snow and ice and pours a creeping darkness into all our hearts. But the Earth keeps its orbit, and the Sun moves from the Archer to the Ram. The days grow longer and carry the promise of new life. Winter loses its terror even as we remember--there's no eternal light, there's no everlasting darkness.

Jim Ganahl, Cook, MN

Pause, listen to the music.
Observe the decorations.
Ponder the perfect gift.
Take part in festivities.
We sense other seasons could be richer.

We recognize this old friend.
We met him in years of yore.
We commit to stay with him longer this year,
and find him sooner next.

Erik Olson, Mora, MN

May you be wrapped in warm hugs and clothed in gentle words
And may love surround your days

Trisha Swanson, Eden Prairie, MN

In light of the events of September 11 and in light of the "Reason for the Season",may we all experience a renewed appreciation for freedoms too often taken for granted and feel blessed for our most precious gifts:family, friends and especially the Savior of mankind,Jesus Christ.

John Jaeger, Coon Valley, WI

Cherish friends.
Confound your foes.
Keep sharp objects
away from your nose.
Write letters to mum.
Help those who have none.
Avoid heavy work
in the noonday sun.
If you do all these things
and drink two pints a day
then life will be good
some Irish do say.

Mark Magnan, Stillwater, MN

2002---what will it bring?
Opportunities to cry? Opportunities to sing?

Let us go forward, let us be bold;
Let us together see the future unfold.

Take time for your loved ones,
Share with all their well-dones.

May the challenge of tomorrow yield more pleasure than pain,
May we all not only labor, but enjoy leisure and gain.

2002---what will it bring?
Opportunities to cry. Opportunities to sing.

David Weelborg, Rosemount, MN

Hey! Hey!
Let's raise our glass on high
Let's let our spirits soar.
Today we are together
And what's more....
Forget your troubles,
Dismiss your weight,
Give thanks to people in your past
And new friends to be met
Let's be merry and full of glee
For today
Let's just Be.
Hey! Hey!

Colleen Tolliver, Amery, WI

Minnesota's Deep Forest Christmas
In the moonlight, the snow sparkles like diamonds.
Norway pines sway in the wind.
The air is sharp and cold as flint.
Miniature, white miracles fall from the midnight sky.

Kristina Moe, Cloquet, MN

Toast
Let's raise our flags under the stars shining bright. Illuminate our hearts in the cold winter night.
Let's remember those we lost this year, for they are angels we hold most dear.
Let's look to the heavens and say a prayer, for peace in America and everywhere.

Judy Isaacson, Jenn Decker, Lisa Wekseth, Cloquet, MN

May each human heart,
Whose bearer is
turban'd,
yarmulke'd,
scarv'd,
helmet'd,
hatless,
Be filled to the brim
With passion for peace.

Barbara Miller, Eagan, MN

Cherish the hug when it's given.
Bless the ear that will listen.
In lieu of retribution,
praise those who've forgiven.
Hence, when receiving these gifts of kindness,
return them--times seven.

Pamela Kelly, Lake Elmo, MN
